The 2022 United States Senate election in South Carolina will be held on November 8, 2022, to elect a member of the United States Senate to represent the state of South Carolina.
Incumbent Republican Senator Tim Scott was appointed to the U.S. Senate in 2013 by then-Governor Nikki Haley following the resignation of Jim DeMint. Scott won the 2014 special election to serve the remainder of DeMint’s term and was re-elected to a full six-year term in 2016 with 60.6% of the vote. He is running for re-election to a second full term, having stated that the 2022 race will be his last.
One-term Republican Tim Scott was appointed in 2013 and won election to his first full term in 2016 with 60.6% of the vote. He said that while he is running for re-election in 2022, it would be his last time.[172] In the Democratic primary, State Representative Krystle Matthews defeated author and activist Catherine Fleming Bruce in a runoff.[173] Angela Geter, chairwoman of the Spartanburg County Democratic Party, also ran in the primary.
Primary elections in South Carolina were held on June 14. Runoff elections for instances where no candidate received over 50% of the vote were held on June 28.
